Our 1st division Men's team advances to the Provincial First Division Final with a fantastic win over Bayside Sharks on April 29th. Tied 7-7 at the half, the Hornets opened up the game and finished 26-7. Considering the horrible conditions (rain and more rain), the game was pure entertainment. Both teams handled the ball extremely well and the defensive play was extremely physical----the teams left everything that they had on the field that day. The game was well officiated by Mr. Kevin Smith and considering the pace, physicality and enthusiasm was played without the niggles and noise-------well done both teams!

The Cowichan Cup is a prestigious trophy. originated in 1922 and most recently been restored to it's original lustre by Cowichan R.F.C.'s own Angie Gudmundseth. Angie was at the Westshore game to assist in the presentation to the Hornets--------thanks Angie, well done.

Nanaimo Hornets 1st division Men left no doubt that they deserve to be in the Cowichan Cup final on April 8/2017, with a 31-12 win over a tough Cowichan side last weekend. Nanaimo led throughout the game with some great hard work on defence and lots of creativity on offence------------a little bit of new structure and game plan seemed to do the trick.
Great game men.

Nanaimo men ventured over the Malahat for a tilt with the University of Victoria Norsemen this past Saturday (Nov.12/16) to continue on with our quest for the Times Cup! The rain held off but the wind was extraordinary, even for Victoria. U/Vic were game and kept their foot off the ball, trying to out run the Hornets, to no avail----------our defence was well structured and aggressive. On the offensive side of the game, we managed to put in 7 trys to 1 but due to the aforementioned wind, we were unable to convert any. The Hornets are showing confidence in the structure and game plans and the substitutions are seamless, making for an extremely strong side. Our depth in the squad is showing and it is making it difficult for the coaches to make selections--------good problem to have.
We are now 7-0 in league play and 8-0 in overall play------------last league game prior to play-offs is next Saturday, Nov.19/16 1:00 p.m. in Nanaimo @ Hornetville vs James Bay AA. Should be a barn burner!!!!!!
